Siren 130: Support Sharon Finnan-White to empower emerging Deadly Diamonds
A Women in Sport Collective
Sharon Finnan-White is one of just three Indigenous women to represent Australia in netball. And she’s determined to change that.
In 2023, Sharon launched her First Nations Academy of Excellence (FNAE).
FNAE is a unique program designed to support young Indigenous netballers, and in time Indigenous athletes from other sports, from regional and remote communities across Australia. This program is the only program of its type across Australia, designed to provide holistic support across the mind, body, and environment, through a range of services that include netball training, educational and employment support, strength and conditioning, mindset coaching, cultural development, and mentorship.
You can read more about the program in this story for ABC Sport that Siren co-founder Kasey Symons wrote as part of our Siren Sport x ABC Sport partnership.
Sharon’s work in driving change for First Nations netballers is so important. And we want to help her on her mission as much as possible—so we’re launching a fundraiser with all proceeds going directly to FNAE!
We have created these limited edition Siren Sport x FNAE sticker packs AND a special FNAE badge!
These are the amazing stickers…

These stickers were designed in collaboration with Sharon’s FNAE participants and the Blackroo Industries design team who created the FNAE logo and art. Sharon asked her netballers to share what the academy and netball means to them and they came up with some incredibly moving words and designs.
Star graphic designer Kel Rowe was able to then find inspiration from these pieces and make digital art for our limited edition stickers and badge. Thank you Kel for working with us to bring all these ideas together to create these!
You can see all the designs from the FNAE netballers on our website.
These designs really show you just how much impact Sharon is having and we know with some more support, Sharon can continue to grow FNAE and bring more First Nations athletes into the great game of netball and empower more Deadly Diamonds.
If you’re in a position to, you can also make an additional donation to Sharon's gofundme for the program here or reach out to Sharon for sponsorship or partnership opportunities.
